Starting My “Career” with Self Portraits.
Canon Rebel T3i. The training wheels of falling in love with photography. These self portraits are, in a way, a love letter to my first camera. The family camera I robbed from its likely grave sitting in the office.
After venturing into the world of beach cleanups and becoming a social media intern for a non-profit, I thought it would be so fitting for me to at least try to take the old girl for a spin. Quite literally, every second I spent shooting with that camera I would learn more and more and become faster with my calibrating on the go. In the summer of 2022 I did some casual self portraits with the camera, with makeshift “tripods” made of pillows and brickwalls and any eye-level flat surface. The setting the timer, and running into fram, almost always barely making it and almost all photos being blurry as a result, I was extremely humbled and determined.
Here lies some of my favorite to-this-day moments of being a photographer the time I was able to spend alone with myself and my camera and see a dainty little vision of mine come into fruition.
